Kitchen Designs Help Mother Earth with Recycling, Eco-Friendly Products and EnergyStar Appliances

kitchen cabinet refacingMany people, who decide to remodel their kitchen, want to be environmentally conscious and use earth friendly, green products not only to save Mother Earth, but to save themselves money on utility bills.  However, going green when remodeling has a high price upfront because using green products in a kitchen remodeling job is costly and a homeowner will not reap the benefits for at least a couple of years.

Earth friendly products or green products are materials like floor is made from recycled glass and using wood from the fast-growing and easy to replenish Lyptus tree.  Kitchen designs have long used eco-friendly products, air conditioners, washers and dryers and dishwashers are consistently becoming more energy efficient.

The government has been pushing hard for people to do the “EnergyStar” program which rates household appliances efficiency.  People are changing their light bulbs, conserving water and switching to more energy efficient appliances in order to help themselves save money and help reduce waste.

Buying a new energy efficient air conditioner, water heater or dishwasher can be expensive but in a year or two’s time, the appliance will have helped homeowners save enough money to have paid the difference in some of the price of the appliance.  A homeowner must consider the upfront cost of going green when embarking on a kitchen remodeling project.

Another environmental concern is chemicals.  Some kitchen cabinet refacing, such as the veneers, used to use glue that was harmful to the environment and extremely toxic.  Today, earth friendly kitchen cabinet resurfacing companies use tiny nails to adhere the veneers to the cabinet doors instead of the harmful glue.

People often find air quality and health reasons for going green.  Buildings now are more energy efficient; however this means they also hold in more of the chemicals added to the building materials.  Formaldehyde, often found in installation and other building materials, has been known to cause asthma attacks; therefore people are willing to pay a little more for installation without the formaldehyde.

Nearly everyone is doing their part to make the world a safer place to be alive.
